2007's Race to the Finish!

The Inaugural BLAZIN’ RACE 5K RUN/WALK was held on July 28, 2007. All eyes were on the weather the day before the race as torrential downpours hit the area. The race began with cloudy skies and temperatures in the upper 70’s. While the morning was rather humid, the clouds lifted leaving a beautiful sunny morning to run.
Seventy-five participants gathered at the start. The siren sounded, signaling the start of the BLAZIN’ RACE 5K RUN/WALK. Runners and walkers quickly cleared the starting line. Bryan Jackson of Bowling Green, Ohio led the field. He maintained a commanding lead throughout the entire race and finished with a BLAZIN’ fast time of 16:33, becoming the winner of the Inaugural BLAZIN’ RACE. Within 20 minutes after race start, the first 5 finishers crossed the finish line. The top female, Kara Butler of Bowling Green, Ohio, was included in this group, finishing third overall with a BLAZIN’ fast time of 19:33.
The Inaugural BLAZIN’ RACE 5K RUN/WALK was a success. The Bryan Volunteer Fire Department Company #1 successfully hosted a morning of excitement and good sportsmanship. The BLAZIN’ RACE 5K provided people from all over the tri-state area a morning of fun and exercise.
The BLAZIN’ RACE 5K crew is looking forward to a brand new year with bigger and better ideas. The Bryan Volunteer Fire Department Company #1 is working hard to expand on the 2007 success. Join us again for fun in running and walking on July 26, 2008.
